Dr. Saad A. Shakir, MD is a Neuro-psychiatrist in the San Francisco Bay Area. He is board-certified by the American Board of psychiatry and Neurology, and also a distinguished fellow of the American psychiatric Association.
Dr. Shakir founded a group practice, Saad A. Shakir, MD and Associates, Integrated Clinical Neurosciences in 1994; the group provides an integrated model for a full range of services in behavioral medicine, from diagnostic to interventional therapeutic options, providing services for the full range of age groups from childhood to geriatrics. Integrated Clinical neuro-sciences(ICN) utilizes a multi-discplinary team of clinicians including medical professionals, psychology professionals, counselors, mid-level providers (nurse practitioners, physician assistants), nursing, nutritional, and other ancillary health professionals. Dr Shakir is also founder and Medical Director of Silicon Valley TMS clinics(in Dec.2010) in Los Gatos and San Francisco (Nov..2014),California which has been designated as “International Center of Excellence”. Dr Shakir has also co-founded Silicon Valley Integrated Sleep Center in March 2013. Dr. Shakir, helped found the Iraqi Medical Sciences Association (IMSA-USA) in 1998, and currently is past president(2010-2012) of that group; the group includes over 150 health care professionals they are committed to educational, humanitarian, and other missions to help the plight of the peoples in developing countries including Iraq.
Dr Shakir is now also chief medical officer for a non-profit humanitarian organization,Care Program for Refugees(CPR) to educate and deliver the latest advances in the medical & Mental health sciences to help address the devastation and improve care standards for trauma victims in the worn-torn middle east.
Dr. Shakir is also a national and international expert and speaker in a variety of topics involving Neuro-Modulation(including rTMS and deep r-TMS, mood and anxiety disorders, bipolar disorders, ADHD, and other topics in Neuro- Behavioral and consultation medicine.
Dr. Shakir graduated from Baghdad University medical school in Baghdad, Iraq, did an internship and residency in medicine and neurology in Baghdad Medical City teaching hospital; his psychiatric Residency training has been at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital and medical Center in New York followed by Stanford University medical Center in Palo Alto, California where he also served as chief resident.
Dr Shakir is Co-founder and President of Northern California TMS society(2012). Dr Shakir is a Board member of the National/International Clinical TMS Society(2013). He serves on a variety of advisory boards and consultant faculty in his field. In his free time he has dedicated himself to coaching youth sports for the past 20 years including soccer, basketball, and other sports.
Dr. Griffiths (Dr. G) is originally from the east coast where she received her B.A. from Rutgers University in English Literature and Women’s Studies. After completing her Master’s Degree in English Literature at the University of Chicago, she completed her premedical training at Northwestern University. Dr. G obtained her medical degree at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine in Philadelphia. She then completed her internship at Drexel University College of Medicine and her Psychiatric residency at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey School of Osteopathic Medicine.
Dr. G received training in psychotherapy, medication management, and trained under the tutelage of Dr. Johnny O’Reardon in Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation. Dr G’s osteopathic medical degree frames her thinking to always look at the whole person and to guide the patient to health and wellness. Dr. Griffiths is especially interested in Women’s Issues, mental health in pregnancy, sleep difficulties, treatment-resistant depression and anxiety, mood disorders and neuromodulation. She is a member of the American Osteopathic Association, the American Psychiatric Association, and the Northern California TMS Society. She is thrilled to join the practice of Saad A. Shakir, M.D. and Associates and Silicon Valley TMS and in her free time loves to explore the wonders of the Bay Area with her family.
